Many agencies on Family Violence are once again having Family Violence Prevention Week during the week of February 9 to 15, 2014.
Family violence is considered to be any form of abuse, mistreatment or neglect that a child or adult experiences from a family member, or from someone with whom they have an intimate relationship.
Everyone should live free from domestic violence and abuse. Having healthy relationships and feeling safe in our homes, workplaces and communities is important to our overall health and well-being.
As part of Family Violence Prevention Week many provinces and community groups are holding educational events this week. Please take a moment and read about Family Violence support in your community.
Many families, organizations, colleagues and co-workers are participating in the Purple Friday Campaign which is to wear something purple, a sweater, a blouse, shirt or tie, or a purple ribbon on Friday February 14th, Valentine’s Day. Wear something purple and show your support!
