Mactech Distance Education has joined with Atlantic Canada’s First Nation Help Desk and Mi’kmaw Kina’matnewey to stream a Christmas concert to our student population across Canada on Tuesday, December 17th.

The concert will be celebrated at Eskasoni Ksite’taqnk Day Care, Eskasoni High School-Allison Bernard Memorial, Unamaki TEC-Eskasoni, Elsipogtog School-Big Cove First Nation, NB, Wagmatcookewey School, Chief Harold Sappier Memorial School-St Mary’s First Nation, NB, Metepenagiag School, NB, Pictou Landing School, Esgenooptijij School-Burnt Church First Nation, NB, Membertou School, and Mah-Sos School-Tobique First Nation, NB.

Each participating school will connect and celebrate together via videoconference by singing holiday songs in their Native language.

Dawn Bear, Aboriginal Student Coordinator with MDE, says “We see the importance of bringing this video stream to our students so that they can enjoy the music, celebrate the holiday season and learn more of the Mik’maq and Maliseet cultures.”

The concert will begin at 1:30 p.m. Atlantic Standard time.
