MDE would like to officially welcome Dawn Bear - Dawn has joined the Mactech Distance Education team as the Aboriginal Student Coordinator.

Dawn is Maliseet, from Tobique First Nation, New Brunswick. She has been working within the education field since 2008.

Having a current 30% Aboriginal student population, MDE understands that offering culturally appropriate motivation and support is a key step towards promoting educational successes. Mrs. Bear points out “…our goal is to raise awareness on the benefits of distance education, to bring educational opportunities to all 671 Aboriginal communities across Canada, to help Aboriginals study without leaving their communities.”

As the Aboriginal Student Coordinator, Dawn will be working with Aboriginal students and communities to understand barriers, create support initiatives, and facilitate relationships.

We are pleased to have Dawn join the Mactech family…..Pjila’si
